About Gymanda

Namaste, I'm Amanda York, a REPs Certified Level 3 Personal Trainer, Yoga Coach, Fitness Instructor and Health & Fitness Writer based in Rotherhithe, Canada Water, Greenwich, Blackheath, Canary Wharf, City & West End and have been weight-training for over half of my life. I am active every day which has helped me maintain my size 10 frame and endless energy.

Every year I train towards a new sport - recently both the London Marathon and Half Marathon, Figure Skating Level 7, Ski Fit, Equestrian and London to Brighton Bike Ride, this year the London Duathlon and Advanced Yoga techniques. Next year to tie in with the spirit of the 2012 Games, I'll be in training for NABBA Toned Figure and UKBFF Bikini & Body Fitness competitions which will take more dedication than ever before in terms of lifting weight, sculpting and stripping fat. My aim is to be stage-ready by my 40th birthday in 2013. In front of the judges, there's no place to hide one's efforts, commitment and expertise.

Gymanda was brewing in the 90’s when I took an ‘Exercise to Music’ course which changed my life. Learning about our physiology and anatomy blew me away. Then in my early 30’s I discovered that I had underlying health issues which made me look at my hedonistic lifestyle and make some major changes. I expanded my knowledge by taking an intensive ‘Advanced Personal Trainer’ course in 2007 and became a ‘Raw Living Food Chef’ in 2008 and fully qualified Yoga Coach in 2011.

Exercise, Rest and Nutrition go hand-in-hand in achieving a state of wellness; to feel buoyant and energetic. Also, when you are physically healthy, your mind will occupy a place of well-being too.

My ultimate mission at Gymanda is to create a fun yet effective, holistic and bespoke training programme in whichever field you wish and to help you develop optimum healthful habits for the rest of your lives.

This year I have written for Ultra Fit magazine and Fitnorama on-line magazine and aim to expand my writing career in 2012.
